The Purple Bakeshop in Mississauga is a bakery that brings a distinct slice of Filipino flavor to Erin Mills Parkway. This spot is clearly a go-to for anyone looking to explore traditional and modern Filipino pastries, with a colorful purple-themed interior that makes the experience feel both vibrant and welcoming. It’s the kind of place where the display cases are filled with a variety of baked goods that invite you to try something new, whether it’s sweet or savory.

Locals seem to appreciate The Purple Bakeshop for its diverse selection—spicy chicken empanadas, flaky mango puffs, and their signature purple yam (ube) cookies are often mentioned as standouts. The mango puff, in particular, balances sweetness with fresh mango flavor and a light, flaky texture, suggesting it’s well worth trying if you enjoy fruit-forward pastries. For fans of ube, the bakery offers rich treats like the ube overload and ube leche flan, which come across as authentic takes on the classic purple yam desserts that Filipino cuisine is known for.

The atmosphere feels approachable, with staff who are attentive and friendly without being overbearing, making it a nice spot for a casual stop—whether you’re picking up snacks to take home, grabbing something quick on the go, or celebrating a special occasion with one of their fresh cakes. There’s a sense that the bakery is mindful of convenience too, as some items like the empanadas are praised for how well they freeze, making them a handy snack option for residents who want to enjoy a taste of the Philippines at home.

Expect a vibrant, community-oriented bakery that suits mid-morning or early afternoon visits well—times when you might pair a fresh pastry with a coffee (they recently added a coffee line for those who want a caffeine boost). It seems particularly popular among those familiar with Filipino flavors but also accessible enough for anyone interested in exploring something different from the usual bakery fare in Mississauga.

The purple theme at The Purple Bakeshop is what seemed to attract me to the store. I tried the Spicy chicken empanada, Mango puff and their signature Ube cookie. Although all the goodies tasted great, the mango puff was my favourite. It was flaky, mildly sweet with the mango clearly predominant in a good way. The person at the counter(missed to ask his name) was very friendly, polite and kind enough to explain about Ube and how it is popularly used in Filipino dishes. Will visit again to try other Ube products. (The photos have half eaten goodies!) PS - Thanks for carefully keeping my personal item which I had forgotten at the store.

One of the best Filipino bakeshop’s in Mississauga! They’ve got VARIETY. My bf loves their ube overload, for the price too it’s worth it. They just came out with more recently like their coffee line and it’s recommended if you need a caffeine pick me up while shopping. I also do recommend getting their empanadas because you could freeze them and save it for later as a snack. Service is great here!!

Bring home a taste of the Phillipines! With this motto in mind, Purple Bake Shop (5100 Erin Mills Pkwy, Mississauga, ON L5M 4Z5) invites you to indulge in a variety of traditional Filipino desserts and pastries, bringing the essence of Filipino culinary heritage to your table. Hoping to try a variety of their desserts, I savoured the rich and creamy Ube Leche Flan, where the smooth, purple yam flavor perfectly complemented the caramelized sweetness. The double chocolate cake was a decadent delight, with layers of moist chocolate sponge and velvety chocolate ganache that melted in my mouth. The Ube Cheesecake offered a unique twist with its creamy texture and vibrant ube flavor, while the fluffy and buttery Ensaymada, topped with a generous sprinkle of cheese, was the perfect balance of sweet and savoury. However, the true highlights were the drinks. The Maiso con Queso was a delightful blend of sweet corn and creamy cheese that offered a refreshing and unique flavor combination. The Buco Pandan drink was equally impressive, featuring the fragrant essence of pandan mixed with tender coconut strips and a touch of sweetness, making it a perfect tropical refreshment. Both drinks beautifully captured the authentic taste of Filipino beverages, adding a refreshing twist to the dessert experience. I ordered pickup for a Mango Cream Cake for a birthday (this is a delayed review but better late than never). They did fantastic. One of the most delicious, fresh and sweet cake I've had (the guests loved it too). They also did an above and beyond job with the lettering, very impressed. Will order and support again!

LOVE this Filipino bakeshop, and so does my entire extended family! I always grab their ube crinkle cookies for family functions and holiday get-togethers (and it's also my Mom's favourite bribe in exhange for babysitting the grandkids - not that she needs the bribe, but she's always excited to see some waiting for her!) Highly recommend!

First time to try this specialty coffee shop for their baked treats. However, I have tasted a few of their products from pasalubong. I really enjoyed the hopia monggo and food for the gods. Both were to die for. The next day, we’re there buying the same! On the third day (3 consecutive days) we decided to have the kape barako and empanada combo. What a pleasant surprise to taste the best ever empanada in the whole world! At one point, I noticed a 30% discount on the hopia because the best before date is in 3 days. In my mind, it wouldn’t wait for 3 days coz it’ll be gone in 1 hour as soon as it arrives at home, lol! The only thing I noticed is the cost per bag. It’s really pricey; though it’s worth every bite! Come, check it out, give it a try. Highly recommended!
